Application Processing

(This page is part of the official Academic Calendar)

Below you will find information about how we process applications.

Admission Deferral

If circumstances arise and you are unable to attend RDC, you can request an admission deferral once in the same academic year.   Email the Office of the Registrar at admissions [at] rdc [dot] ab [dot] ca with rationale to request the deferral.

Appeal of an Admission Decision

Contact the Registrar if you have concerns about an admission decision.

Application Fee

The application fee is good for one academic year (July-June).  If you are currently attending RDC then do not take classes in a Fall or Winter term and want to attend again the future, you will need to re-apply and pay the non-refundable application fee.

Cancelling Your Program

If you need to cancel your admission, either email admissions [at] rdc [dot] ab [dot] ca or call (403) 342-3400.

Choosing Another Program

If you are not admitted into your first program choice, you will be told the reason and offered assistance to choose another program.

Clear Admission

You will receive clear admission to a program when all official documents (e.g. transcripts, IQAS assessments, Study Permits) are received in the Office of the Registrar and you meet all program admission requirements.

Note: Admission may be cancelled if official documents are not submitted by the deadlines.

Conditional Admission

You will receive conditional admission to a program if you indicate on your application that you have completed or are completing the program admission requirements.

Refusal of Admission

The College reserves the right to refuse admission to any person.

Response Letters to Applications

You will receive a letter in the mail stating your admission status and what documents are required to complete your application.

Returning to Red Deer College

If you previously attended RDC and want to return, you will need to submit a new application and pay the non-refundable application fee. Previously submitted documents such as transcripts will be kept on file and do not need to be resubmitted unless they have changed.

Test and Interview Results

Test and interview results are kept confidential according to College policy and the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.   You may ask the Registrar for your admission testing results.   If you are not admitted to a program based on an interview or audition, you can ask for the rationale from the Associate Dean of that program.

Wait Lists

If you qualify for admission after the program has filled, you will be placed on a wait list. You will be advised if space becomes available.
