The Program

The eLearning Instructor, Post Diploma is designed to prepare educators for teaching in an online environment. Through the courses and Capstone Project in this advanced certificate, students will develop their skills and knowledge-base to create successful and engaging online learning
environments. The certificate is designed for anyone responsible for teaching in a work environment, including K-12, adult, and post-secondary contexts. All courses are offered fully online and prepare program graduates for success in online teaching.

Program Outcomes:
Graduates will demonstrate the following knowledge and skills:

  • Identify roles and responsibilities to support excellent online teaching and learning within institutional contexts.
  • Communicate effectively using online course tools.
  • Apply learning theories and quality standards to the development of an online course.
  • Utilize online teaching tools to engage and assess student learning.
  • Foster student-student, student-instructor, and student-content interaction and collaboration.
  • Practice online teaching skills that increase student engagement and interactivity.
  • Assess research in online teaching and learning and apply to online teaching context.
  • Choose and redevelop content for teaching in an online environment.
  • Assess own facilitation of online learning environment for quality and effectiveness.
  • Create an engaging, inclusive, and welcoming online learning environment.
     
Requirements
Admission Requirements: 

An undergraduate degree in any discipline from an accredited institution
OR
A two year diploma or equivalent training from an accredited institution in any discipline;
OR
Provincial Trades Certificate or Red Seal Journeyperson’s Certificate.

Note: Applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate English language proficiency.

Graduation Requirements: 

Completion of all courses with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.
