Students registering for programs and courses commencing in the Fall term must file completed Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) application forms before the Add/Drop date in the Fall term for courses in which they are registered, in order for credit to be applied to that term - before June is recommended. Students seeking RPL for courses commencing in the Winter Term, must file RPL applications before the Add/Drop date in the Winter term for courses in which they are registered, in order for credit to be applied to that term - before December is recommended. The same provisions are in effect for the Spring term. If students apply for a Prior Learning Assessment for a course in which they are currently registered, they will be expected to produce the relevant documentation, and/or complete the requisite assessment within the first two weeks of the term in which they are registered in the course.
RPL applications must be accompanied by supporting documentation (or have documents already on file), which includes official transcripts and academic course descriptions/outlines. The RDC Assessor will determine if a fee is applicable and will notify the applicant after submission of the initial application. All RPL fees are non-transferable and non-refundable.
Credit granted via RPL may affect the status of funded students, and eligibility for scholarships. Students must be enrolled in at least three courses (3) and have nine (9) credits per term to retain their full-time status. Students who are eligible for scholarships and/or bursaries should check with the Student Funding & Awards office at RDC, to ascertain if an RPL credit award will affect their eligibility.
