We are thrilled you are applying to Red Deer College! Our students are our first priority and we know that once you get here you will understand why so many people attend RDC and remain to live and work in central Alberta even after graduation.
Note: If you are interested in Apprenticeship or Continuing Education classes, you do not need to apply to Red Deer College.
Apply electronically, or complete a printed application form. This application will replace any previous application(s) you submitted. You’ll be considered only for the program indicated on the most recent application submitted. Application forms will not be processed until the application fee has been received.
Submitting a New Application Online (credit card required):
You can submit an online application to RDC through Apply Alberta, the Alberta Post-Secondary Application System. This online application process makes it easy for you to apply for admission and if you attended high school or post-secondary in Alberta, your transcripts will automatically be sent electronically to RDC at no cost to you.
Submitting a New Paper Application (credit card required or pay in person):
You can submit a paper application by downloading the application and submitting it by mail, fax or in person. Please note that applications are not processed until payment is received. Payment may be made in the following ways depending on how you send the application.

When To Apply
We continue accepting applications until the program is full or until the end of the first week of classes. Students are admitted on a first come first serve basis unless otherwise specified in the Academic Calendar. Therefore, it is better to get your application in sooner rather than later. Applications are accepted according to the dates published in the Academic Schedule.
Opening day for applications:
Term | Month | Day |
Fall | October | 1 |
Winter | April | 1 |
Spring | August | 1 |
Applications will be processed on the first business day following these dates.
Note that international applicants have different deadlines and requirements. Go to International Admissions for more information.
Transcripts
Official high school and/or post-secondary transcripts are required to finalize admission decisions. To be considered official, transcripts must be mailed directly to Red Deer College from the educational institution or provincial government department. For applicants with courses completed in Alberta, we will order your official transcripts for you.
For applicants with courses completed outside of Alberta, you will be required to request them directly from the issuing source and/or educational institution. Click here for more information about ordering transcripts from other provinces.
Note: All documents submitted become the property of the College. They are not returned to you.
Note: If you are still in high school or from out of province, please declare your grade 12 courses on the application so we can make an initial decision regarding your admission.
Applicants with International Transcripts (including Canadian citizens or Permanent Residents)
International transcripts may need to be assessed by IQAS (International Qualifications Assessment Services). If that’s the case, you might be charged an assessment fee. Go to International Admissions for more information including whether or not your transcript can be assessed by RDC or will require IQAS assessment.
Domestic applicants (including permanent residents of Canada) with international documents must have their official transcripts or IQAS assessment submitted to RDC by the international document deadline, per the dates on the chart on the International Admissions page.
