We are endlessly fascinated by the problem of crime, criminals, and crime stories. This course looks at these puzzles through the lens of exploratory qualitative research and narrative sociology. By the end of this course students will have familiarized themselves with socio-narratological and exploratory analysis and practice, applying their emerging skills and sociological insights to accounts of crime told by various interest groups (i.e., the accused or charged, the legal system, the public, the media, or the victims of crime).
