Genres of study will include sound poetry; visual poetry; concrete poetry; found poetry; and we will question the nature and limits of genres themselves. We will consider the conventions of meaning as well as the alternatives to convention and the alternatives to meaning. Essentially; how do texts work and what are their effects? While this is a course in Canadian writing; we will also read texts that inform the history and internationalism of experimental writing. Prerequisite: 6 credits of 200 Level English
